Area of shaded region of rectangle ABCD = 85 cm²

Area of shaded region of square PQRS = 490 cm²

Step-by-step explanation:

In the given figure (i).

Area of shaded region = Area of rectangle ABCD - Area of triangle (I) - Area of triangle (II) - Area of triangle (III)

\text{Area of triangle (I)}=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 6\times 8=24

\text{Area of triangle (II)}=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 4\times 8=16

\text{Area of triangle (III)}=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 6\times 5=15

\text{Area of rectangle ABCD}=10\times 14=140

Area of shaded region = 140-24-16-15

                                    = 85 cm²

In the given figure (ii).

Area of shaded region = Area of square PQRS - Area of triangle (I) - Area of triangle (II)

\text{Area of triangle (I)}=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 14\times 28=196

\text{Area of triangle (II)}=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 14\times 14=98

\text{Area of square PQRS}=28\times28=784

Area of shaded region = 784-196-98

                                    = 490 cm²
