in the given figure ,ABCD ,is strap with AB parallel to DC and angle ABC= 90 .BCEF is a quadrilateral of a circle .If BC=CD=4.2 cm and AE = 1.8 cm ,find the area of the shaded region........

given,

AE= 1.8 cm

BC = DC = 4.2cm

in fig,

radius of circle = BC= 4.2cm

then,

AB= AE + radius of circle

=> 1.8 +4.2

=> 6cm

then,

ABCD is trapezium,

area of ABCD

= 1/2×(AB+DC)×BC

= 1/2×(6+4.2)×4.2

= 21.42 cm^2

then,

area of BCE quadrilateral of a circle

= 1/4×πr^2

= 1/4×π×4.2×4.2

= 1/4×22/7×17.64

= 13.86cm^2

then,

area of the shaded region

=21.42-13.86

=7.56 cm^2
