Given: AD=11 cm, AB= 18cm, and AE= 9 cm

To find: EC

Solution:

We will have to prove triangle DAE and triangle BAC as a congruent triangle

In triangle DAE and triangle BAC

  • A angle is common in both the triangles
  • Since DE is parallel to BC, angle ADE is corresponding to angle ABC

So the two triangles are congruent by angle-angle property and so the sides are proportional,

Therefore, DA/BA=AE/AC

11/18=9/AC

AC=14

Therefore EC= 14-9= 5

The length of EC is 5cm
