AB square=AC square+BC square+2BC.CD

so substitute given values in it

so we get

(16)square=(6)square+(12)square+2×12×CD

ie 256=36+144+24CD

so 256=180+24CD

thus now

24CD=76

CD=76/24

hence CD=19/6

hence value of CD is 19/6 or 3.334 cm
