angle CBD=angle BCD
or

as we know that the sum of all interior angle is 180 then
angle CBD+ angle BCD +angle BDC = 180
2CBD+angle BDC =180
2×40+angle BDC=180
angle BDC =180-80
angle DBC =100
angle DBC=angle BAC (opposite angle on same cord are equal)
hence angle BAC=100°
