in the given figure d e parallel AC and DF parallel to AE.

Given,

BF = 4 cm

FE = 2 cm

In Δ ABC,

DE ║ AC (given)

∴ BD/DA = BE/EC ...........(1)

In Δ ABE,

DF ║ AE (given)

∴ BD/DA = BE/FE .........(2)

Using (1) and (2), we get,

BE/EC = BF/FE

(BF + FE) / EC = BF / FE

(4 + 2) / EC = 4 / 2

6 / EC = 4 / 2

6 × 2 / 4 = EC

12 / 4 = EC

EC = 3 cm

Therefore the length of EC = 3 cm
