in the given figure, diametre CD of circle with centre O is perpendicular to the chord. If AB=8cm,CM=2cm, find radius.

Answer:

AB=8cm

MB=4cm

we know that radius perpendicular to any chord divide it into 2 equal parts.

now join BC.

BMC is a right angle triangle.

where MB =4cm and CM=2cm .

Also it is a right angled triangle now apply pythagoras theorem to it..

let OM= x

then radius OC = OA

so, r = x+ 2

then apply Pythagoras theorem
