area of outer rectangle is 40m*60m=2400m^2

to find the area of inner rectangle we need to know the length and breadth

length will be 60m -(2m+2m)=56m we have to substract the width of the path from both side same yoy have to do for breath also so, breadth will be 40m-(2m+2m)=36m

so,

the area of inner rectangle = 56m *36m

=2016m^2

the area of the shaded portion or path will be=

Area of the outer rectangle - Area of inner rectangle=(2400-2016)m^2

=384m^2
