Given: Sides of a square= 10 cm

Radius of the circle= 3.5 cm

To Find: Area of the shaded portion

Solution:

Area of a square= (side)² unit²

                           = 10 \times 10 cm²

                           = 100 cm²

Area of a circle= πr² unit² (r is the radius)

                        = \frac{22}{7} \times (3.5)^{2} cm²

                        = \frac{22}{7} \times \frac{35}{10} \times \frac{35}{10} cm²

                        = \frac{3850}{100} cm²

                        = 38.5 cm²

Area of shaded region= Area of the square - area of the circle

                                        = (100 - 38.5) cm²

                                        = 61.5 cm²

Answer: The area of the shaded region is 61.5 cm².
