In the given figure, find the value of p and q

In the given figure;

q and an angle of 50° lie on line M

☆ By Linear Pair of Angles Property,

q + 50° = 180°

q = 180° - 50°

q = 130°

Since, line M and line L are straight lines,

☆ By Vertically Opposite Angles,

p = 50°

Know more:

  • Vertically Opposite angles states that the opposite angles on either side of the straight line are equal.
  • Linear Pair of angles Property states that on any given straight line the sum of all angles is 180°

p=50° (Vertically opposite angles)

q+50°=180° (linear pair)

q=130°
