∴ΔACB~ΔECD (By AA test)

In similar triangles, The ratios of corresponding sides are proportional.

∴ AB/ED=AC/EC=BC/DC

AB/ED=BC/DC

          =(BD+DC)/DC

a/x=(b+c)/c

∴x = ac/(b+c)
