To Find:-

  • Length of PT = x

Solution:-

Here, PT is the tangent to the circle with center O.

WKT

  • ✯ Tangent is perpendicular to the Radius at the point of Contact.

So, In Triangle OPT

Angle OPT = 90°

By Pythagoras Theorem

→\;{\sf{OP²+PT² = OT²}}

→\;{\sf{5²+PT² = 13²}}

→\;{\sf{PT² = 169-25}}

→\;{\sf{PT = \sqrt{144}}}

→\;{\sf{PT = \sqrt{12²}}}

➝\;{\bf{PT = 12}}

  • Length of PT → x = 12cm
