Given,

AC = BD

Then, Let's BC = Xcms

We can write..

AC = AB+BC

substitute X in the place of BC

=> AC = AB+X ............(1)

BD = BC+CD

Substitute X in the place of BC

=> BD = X+CD.............(2)

From the given AC = BD...Now equate (1) & (2)

=> AC = BD

=> AB+X = X+CD

X in LHS and RHS get cancelled...on both sides

=> AB = CD.....

Hence, Proved that AB = CD..
