Given:

PQRS is a quadrilateral with the circle circumscribed, where AQ = 4cm, QR = 7cm, DS = 3cm

To Prove:

the value of x

Solution:

Since,  the tangents from an external point are equal

So, DS = SC = 4cm [the value of DS = 3cm is given]..(i)

AQ = QB = 3cm [the value of AQ = 4cm is given]

Now, we find the measure of BR by subtracting BQ from QR

∴ BR = QR - BQ

  BR = 7 - 4

  BR = 3cm

So, now BR = CR = 3cm [since the tangents from an external point are equal]..(ii)

Also, SD = SC =3cm [tangents from an external point are equal]

Then, we find the value of x which is SR

Now, SR = SC + CR

Using (i) and (ii) we substitute the values

x = 3 + 3

x = 6cm

Therefore, the value of x or SR is 6cm.
