if d is the mid point ,

d splits the line in two parts wich are equal

ad=ac/2

=2.5 cm

we know sum of angles at a point=360 degree

but here we are considering one side of the line and hence , the point has sum of angles =180 degree for the one side

angle bda =1/2 OF 180 degree

bda=90 degree

again we know that the triangle formed is a right triangle

so to find out bd , use Pythagoras theorem

ad2+bd2=ab2

2.5^2+bd2=4^2

bd=√(16-6.25)

bd=√(9.75) cm

bd=3.12 cm (rounded off)
