Given: M, N, and P are the midpoints of AB, BC, and AC respectively.

          MN = 3cm, NP = 3.5cm, and MP = 2.5cm

To find:( BC+AC)-AB =?

Solution:

From the midpoint theorem, we know that " The line segment in a triangle joining the midpoint of two sides of the triangle is said to be parallel and is also half of the length of the third side."

So from the above said theorem we get that,

If MN = 3cm then BC = 2MN i.e BC= 6cm

If NP = 3.5cm then AB = 2NP i.e AB= 7cm

If MP = 2.5cm then AC = 2MP i.e AC= 5cm

So, (BC+AC)-AB = 6+5-7 = 11-7 = 4cm

So the required answer will be 4cm. (Ans)
