then

x+y=180° (corresponding angles are supplementary)

x+40=180°(adjacent angles are supplementary)

z=40° (corresponding angles)

z=y(vertically opposite angles)

and now

Find x first

x+40=180°

x=180-40=140°

also

x+y=180°

140+y=180

y=180-140

y=40°

and

z=y

z=40°
