In the given figure ,perpendicular have been drawn from the center to equal chords AB and CD to intersect the circle at X and Y respectively . Show that BX= DY.​

Answer:

given AB and CD are equal chords

that also means that the distance between the chora are equal

therefore,

and we know that the perpendicular drawn to the chord from the centre of the circle, divides the chord in two equal halves

so

MX=NY (already discussed)

BM=DN (already discussed)

and angle BMX= angle DNY = 90° (given)

thus triangles BMX and DNY are congruent

and BX=DY (C.P.C.T)
