Given that,

Velocity of pulley = U

Velocity of block = u

Suppose, if pulley covered a distance of  x in any time interval  t, then the block covered the distance of  2x in the same time interval.

So, the velocity of the block will be double of the velocity of the pulley.

We need to calculate the velocity of block

Using formula for velocity

v_{p}=\dfrac{v_{1}+v_{2}}{2}

Where, v₁₂ = velocity of wall

v₂ = velocity of block

v_{p} = velocity of pulley

Put the value into the formula

U=\dfrac{0+u}{2}

u=2U

Hence, The velocity of block is 2U
