In the given figure, sides AB and AC of AABC have been produced to D and E respectively. If ZCBD = xº and ZBCE = yo such that x > y, show that AB > AC. [Hint. x > y = (180 - y) > (180 – x).]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

ΔABC

x>y    {multiply both side by -1}

-x < -y   {add 180°}

180°-x < 180°-y

ABD & ACE is straight line

So,  (180°-x)=∠ABC ;  (180°-y)=∠ACB

∠ABC < ∠ACB

AC < AB
