Given :  straight lines AB and CD intersect at O.

angle AOC=∅,angle BOC=θ

∅ =3θ   or θ = 3∅

To Find : θ  and ∅

Solution:

AB is a straight line

∠AOC & ∠BOC form a linear pair

Hence ∠AOC +  ∠BOC   = 180°

=>  ∅ + θ  = 180°

Case 1 -   ∅ =3θ

=> 3θ  + θ  = 180°

=> 4θ  = 180°

=> θ  = 45°

∅ = 3θ  = 3(45°) = 135°

θ  = 45° , ∅  =  135°

Case 2 -   θ =3∅

=> 3∅  + ∅  = 180°

=> 4∅  = 180°

=> ∅  = 45°

θ =3∅   = 3(45°) = 135°

θ  = 135° , ∅  =  45°
