In the given figure, tan xº= 3/4,
tan yº = 2/5 And angle theta =90°. If PQ=15cm, find MR

tanx =PQ/mq =3/4

15/mq=3/4

mq=15*4/3=20

tany=PQ/rq =2/5

15/rq=2/5

rq=15*5/2 =37.5

Mr= rq-mq =37.5-20=17.5

GIVEN

tan xº= 3/4,

tan yº = 2/5 And angle theta =90°.

PQ = 15cm

TO FIND

The value of MR

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

In ΔPMQ

tan(x) = PQ/MQ

3/4 = 15/MQ

MQ = 15× (4/3) = 20cm

In ΔPQR

tan(y) = PQ/RQ

2/5 = 15/RQ

RQ = 15× (5/2) = 37.5cm

MR = RQ - MQ

MR = 17.5 cm

Hence, The answer is 17.5cm
