As the triangles are similar
AD/AB=DE/BC=AE/AC...... (1)
AD=2cm
AB=AD+DB
=5cm
DE=5cm
Putting values in (1)
AD/AB=DE/BC
2/5=5/BC
BC=25/2
BC=12.5cm......ANSWER...

Answer:

The length of BC is 12.5 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that triangle ABC~ADE.

The corresponding sides of similar triangles are similar.

\frac{AB}{AD}=\frac{BC}{DE}=\frac{AC}{AE}

It is given that AD = 2 cm, DB= 3 cm and DE=5 cm.

\frac{AB}{AD}=\frac{BC}{DE}

\frac{2+3}{2}=\frac{BC}{5}

\frac{5}{2}=\frac{BC}{5}

\frac{5\times 5}{2}=BC

\frac{25}{2}=BC

12.5=BC

Therefore the length of BC is 12.5 cm.
