In the given figure, two concentric circles with centre O have radii 21 cm and 42 cm. If angle AOB = 60°, find the area of the shaded region.​

Area of inner circle: πr²

22/7 * 21 * 21

=1386 cm square

Area of outer circle= 22/7 * 42 * 42

=5544 cm square

Difference (area of outer circle- inner circle)= 5544-1386

                                                                        =4158 cm square

We know that sum of angles around a point is 360 degrees

Since angle AOB is 60 degrees it is 1/6 of 360

Area of the shaded portion= 4158- 1/6 of 4158

                                             =3465 cm square
