Given :- In the given figure, what is the ratio of the area of the square to the circle ? (Take π = 22/7)

1. π : 2

2. π : 4

3. 5 : π

4. 2 : π

Solution :-

Let us assume that, sides of square are a unit .

then,

  • Diagonal of square = √2 * side = √2a unit.

now,

  • Diameter of circle = Diagonal of square = √2a unit.
  • Radius of circle = (√2a/2) unit .

So,

→ Area of square : Area of circle = (side)² : π * (radius)²

→ Area of square : Area of circle = (a)² : π * {(√2a/2)}²

→ Area of square : Area of circle = a² : π * (2a²/4)

→ Area of square : Area of circle = a² : π(a²/2)

→ Area of square : Area of circle = 2a² : π * a²

→ Area of square : Area of circle = 2 : π . (Ans.)

Hence, Ratio of Area of square to the Area of circle is 2 : π .
