in the given triangle ABC, DE ll BC. If DE=5cm, BC=8cm and AD=3.5cm, then find the length of AB.

As it can be clearly seen that angle A is common thus the triangles ADE & ABC are similar

So DE/BC=AD/AB

AB=BC x AD / DE = 8 X 3.5 / 5 = 5.6 cm
