Given : In The Golden Age B-School’ there are 15 faculty members. Whenever a faculty attains the age of 60 in a particular year, he retires at the end of the year and is replaced by new recruit from the start of the New Year.

To find : the average of the ages of the faculty in the year 2006.

Solution:

Faculty Members  =  15

During the year 2005, the average age of the faculty members was 48  Years

Total age in 2005 = 15 * 48  =  720 Years

At the start of 2006,  three 60 years person replaced with 36 yeas average

So Age reduces = 3 * 60 - 3 * 36   = 72 Years

For remaining 12 Faculty age increased by 1 Year from 2005 to 2006

Hence increase in age = 12 Years

So New Total age = 720  - 72  + 12  =  660  Years

Faculty = 15

average of the ages of the faculty in the year 2006. = 660/15

= 44  Years

average of the ages of the faculty in the year 2006. = 44  Years
