Trees do not ‘replace the grasses’ as a part of ‘an ecological succession’ in the grasslands because of (c) water limits and fire.
Trees require a large amount of water than the grass, thus in grasslands if trees replace grass then there would be water scarcity to the foreign species trees as well as indigenous flora and fauna and also fire would be a major problem, the trees are tall and have the tendency of catching and spreading fire amongst themselves soon.
