The reason behind this is that there is large viewership of cricket in India as well as other South Asian countries. After the decolonization, the cricket became really popular among people. At that time cricket was played by Britishers and it was seen as a sign of superiority which attracted the Indians including other South Indian countries. These were the reasons which shifted the center of gravity to South Asia.

There are various reasons behind this. As the countries in the south Asia continent share a great interest in cricket. As for example in India, almost the maximum population is crazy about cricket. The other reason is the heat between different cricket teams due to their history such as Pakistan and India. So this also contributes in fannig for cricket.
