Answer the given questions based on the information in the passage

Explanation:

  • Let the number of rows be denoted by 'x' and the total number of seats in a row be denoted 'y'.
  • Then the number of seats in xth row can be calculated using a simple function 'y' in variable 'x'.
  • Here, the number of seats in the first row is two and it keeps increasing by three seats in the next rows.
  • Hence, we get the function y for the total number seats in xth row as,     y=3(x-1)+2\ \  \ \ \ \ \  \ \ ->y=3x-1
  • Now for the number of seats in the tenth row we have, x=10         ->y=3(10)-1\\->y=29   --->Answer(i)
  • Now for the number of seats in sixth row we have, x=6                      ->y=3(6)-1\\->y=17     --->Answer(ii)
