In the modern democracy why do some people avoid voting?

In today's democracy people don't want to go for voting because they think that it is waste of their time .they also think that what difference there one vote will make us there in a large population.they also setup their mind in negative way due to the naxal attack, corruption, and they also think that for giving the vote they have to stand in long line,under sun which is not comfortable....
