A is Sodium and B is Chlorine and their combination gives Sodium Chloride.

- The element A belonging to 1st group and 3rd period is Sodium (Na).

- The element B belonging to 17th group and 3rd period is Chlorine (Cl).

- When Sodium element reacts with chlorine, then sodium chloride will be formed as follows : Na (s) + 1/2 Cl2 (g) ---> NaCl (s)
