Votes in the favour of B = 54%

To Find :-

Number of votes won by candidate A

Solution :-

Total votes polled = 70% of 65500

$=\: {\dfrac{70 \times 65500}{100}}$

= 45850

Votes in the favour of B = 54% of 45850

$=\: {\dfrac{54 \times 45850}{100}}$

= 24759

Votes in the favour of A = Total votes polled - Votes in the favour of B

= 45850 - 24759

= 21091

Therefore , total votes won by candidate A is 21,091 votes
