In the network layer, Zigbee follows AODV routing scheme.

A short not on AODV:

= > It is an acronym for Ad-Hoc on demand Distance vector.

= > It is designed for both on demand and table driven protocols.

= > It defines three types of messages

(a) route request

(b) route reply

(c) route error message

= > It requires less memory space.

Hope this helps!

Hey there!

----------

The answer is AODV.

In the network layer, Zigbee follows AODV (Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector) Scheme.

Extra information :

Ad Hoc Networks or MANETs (Mobile Ad hoc NETworks) : Networks of nodes that just happen to be near each other.

AODV (Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector) : It is a relative of the distance vector algorithm that has been adapted to work in a mobile environment, in which nodes often have limited bandwidth and battery lifetimes.

<> AODV has two phases :

(a) Route Discovery

(b) Route Maintenance

<> In these two phases, AODV defines three message types :

(i) ROUTE REQUEST (RREQ)

(ii) ROUTE REPLY (RREP)

(iii) ROUTE ERROR (RERR)
