We have,

Let the original price of petrol =Rs100

Then,

The price after 10% increase=100+10%of100

=100+10=Rs110

Price after increase =110

{110(110−100)}×100

=11100

=9.09%

A motorist should reduce the consumption of petro by 9.09%

Hence, this is the answer.
