Step-by-step explanation:

let price of petrol be rupee x per litre and consumption of petrol be y litre

total expenses on petrol = xy

now revised price is (x+x*10/100)

= 11x/10

let the revised consumption be z

as per question

11x/10*z = xy

z = 10y/11

reduction in consumption = y - z

= y - 10y/11

= (11y - 10y)/11

= y/11

percent reduction

= (y/11)*100/y

= 100/11

= 9 and 1/11 %
