Given to find value of x,y in parallelogram

Concept to know :-

In a parallelogram opposite sides are equal that i.e

  • AD = BC
  • AB = BC

Solution :-

So, lets do !

As we know that AD = BC ; AB = BC

  • AD = 26cm
  • BC = 3y-1 cm
  • AB = 3x cm
  • CD = 18cm

AD = BC

26cm = 3y-1

Tranpose -1 to LHS

26 + 1 cm = 3y

27cm = 3y

y = 27/3

y = 9 cm

------------------------------------------------

AB = DC

3x = 18cm

x = 18cm/3

x = 6cm

So, Required values of x,y are 6cm, 9cm

Verification:-

We got x,y values we have to verify as they are equal to opposite sides

Opposite side of BC is AB

3y - 1 = 26cm

y= 9cm

3(9cm)- 1cm =26cm

27cm - 1cm = 26cm

26cm = 26cm

Verified

opposite side of AB is DC

3x = 18cm

x = 6cm

3(6cm) = 18cm

18cm = 18cm

LHS = RHS

Verified

------------------------------------------------
