In the partnership business the ratio of capitals of three men is 3:5:8. The share of profit of the first member is Rs. 60 less than that of the third member, then what is the total profit in the business?

Since the ratio of capital of the three partners is 3:5:8, profit is also shared in that ratio.

So we can write,

profit of first partner is equal to 3x

profit of second partner is equal to 5x, and

profit of third partner is equal to 8x.

It is given that profit of first member is Rs. 60 less than the profit of the third member.

That is mathematically saying, 8x-3x=60

                                        ⇒          

                                                    5x=60\\\\x=60/5=12 .

Therefore  the total profit =3x+5x+8x=16x=16*12=192 rupees.
