The Old Kaspar was a representative of the old generation .
During that period of time , the people had blindly relied on what actions the Government had took and they did not question anyone or anything.
Thus the ferocious battle was made to instill in people that it was a great victory.
However Peterkin was an innocent child and she understood that it was very wicked to take away lives of so many people.
Old Kaspar failed to understand that because he was made to believe that it was a great victory.
Hence he kept on repeating the same thing throughout the poem.
