In this poem, it is shown that children are curious by nature while the old Kasper does not know anything about the war but kept on saying "It was a great victory. " he is not even bothered that the war caused suffering to his own family and so many young as well as old people that he still find the skull of the dead killed during that time. It shows that war does not benefit anyone and causes only harm. In this poem, poet depicts men's cruelty to men as well as the curious and innocent nature of children.
