“Cold Within” by James Patrick Kinney
In the poem there were six people trapped by happenstance in bleak and bitter cold, each one of them have a log of wood.
The fire in front of them is about to die, it needed a log of wood, but the first person who was a fair lady she held her log of wood back cause she saw a black man around her.
The second man was a Christian who was looking cross the way and saw one of not his Church, and could not bring himself to give his log to that ending fire.
The third person was a poor man sat in his tattered clothes he didn’t give his log cause if he give his log it will warmth the rich.
The fourth person was a rich man who only thaught of his wealth he stored, and not give his wood cause it will warmth the poor.
The fifth person was a black black man who’s face bespoke of revenge to the white who always bully the black, he in mind thaught that it is his time to take revenge and not give his log of wood to that ending fire.
The sixth person was a selfish man who only give to those who give to them, and held his log back.

There logs held tight in death’s still hands, this was the proof of human sin they not die because of the cold outside they die due to the cold within.
