In the poem seven ages , Why has reputation been described as 'bubble'? What is ironical about a soldier dying for it ?

Reputation has been described as ‘bubble’ because it is as short lived as a bubble is. The ironical thing about a soldier dying for it is that he is ready to die for something that is so short lived. In place of dying for reputation, he should dedicate his life to some other noble cause, such as serving his nation, helping the suffering mankind, etc.

bubble is temporary and very fragile. it does not have the ability to bear extreme conditions. The men has a reputation of facing changing circumstances and conditions, so bubble do not have that worth to be fighting for
