In this poem the chimney sweeper himself describes that he was young when he was sold...... And the word 'sold' means that he sent him to work and made him to earn the money.....

In the poem "the chimney sweeper," the first paragraph explains that the chimney sweeper was very young in an age when he was sold.
It turns out that his father sold him before he could even really speak.
By selling, it means that the little kid was forced into chimney sweeping slavery
