The women was not willing to give her log bcoz she was trapped in Racial Prejudice.She has saw a black man in the group which prevent her from giving her log.

The poor man hasn't given his wood bcoz he had a great hatred for the rich man who was in their group. He thought that the rich people rely themselves on the poor and take their share leaving them poor.
