Given  : in the popular shopping centre ,the waiting time for an ABSA ATM machine is found to be uniformly disturbed between 1 and 5 minutes.  

To Find  :  the probability of waiting between 2 and 5 minutes to use the ATM​

Solution:

The standard deviation is approximately equal to the range of the data divided by 4

Range = 5 - 1 = 4

SD = 4/1  = 1

Mean = ( 1 + 5)/2 = 3

Mean = 3

SD = 1

z score = (value - mean ) /SD

Z score for 2  =   -1     =>  0.1587

Z score for 5  =   2      => 0.9772

=> probability of waiting between 2 and 5 minutes to use the ATM​  

=  0.9772 - 0.1587

= 0.8185
