In the production of cathode rays the rays passed from cathode to anode. but when cathode was perforated the rays passed from anode to cathode.why?Please explain me in detail.

actually cathode is bigger than anode. when cathode is perforated it shows anode ray bcz rays can pass through the holes of cathode
