Answer :-

  • The new ratio will be 1 : 3.

To find :-

  • The new ratio.

Step-by-step explanation :-

  • Here, the original ratio is 3 : 8. 2 is added to the antecedent and 7 is added to the consequent, we have to find the new ratio.

We know that :-

  • The first quantity of a ratio is called the antecedent.
  • The second quantity of a ratio is called the consequent.

Here,

  • The antecedent is 3.
  • The consequent is 8.

When 2 is added to the antecedent,

  • It becomes 5, as 3 + 2 = 5.

When 7 is added to the consequent,

  • It becomes 15, as 8 + 7 = 15.

-------------------------------------------------

Now, the new ratio in fractional form is :-

\sf \dfrac{3 + 2}{8 + 7} = \dfrac{5}{15}

Reducing the fraction to it's simplest form,

\sf \dfrac{1}{3}

Converting it into ratio,

\underline{\boxed{\sf 1 : 3}}

-------------------------------------------------

  • Hence, the new ratio will be 1 : 3.
