In the reaction, H2 + I2 = 2HI, in a 2 litre flask 0.4 mole of each H2 and I2 are taken. At equilibrium 0.5 moles of HI are formed. What will be the value of equilibrium??????

mole at start         0.4            0.4                                  0

mole at equli.      0.4-α         0.4-α                               2α

here , 2α=0.5  ,   α = 0.25

[H2] = (0.4-.25) /2

[I2] = (0.4-.25) /2

[HI]= 0.5/2

equilibrium cons. = ([H2][I2])/[HI]²

                             = 0.09
