Reaction : H₂S + NO₂ → H₂O + NO + S

• Change in oxidation state in above reaction of all element is given below :

H₂S + NO₂ → H₂O + NO + S

(+2,-2) (+4,-4) (+1,-2) (+2,-2) (0)

• We can clearly see that oxidation state of sulphur (S) changes from -2 to +0.

• Hence, we can conclude that H₂S is getting oxidised.
