In the recent, climate conference in New York, out of 700 men, 500 women, 800 children present inside the building premises, 20% of the men, 40% of the women and 10% of the children were Indians.

We have to find percentage of people who were not Indians.

no of men = 700 and 20 % of men were Indians

∴ no of men were not Indians = (100 - 20) % of 700

= 80% of 700

= 80 × 700/100

= 560

similarly,

no of women = 500 and 40 % of women were Indians.

∴ no of women were not Indians = (100 - 40)% of 500

= 60 % of 500

= 60 × 500/100

= 300

and no of children = 800 and 10 of children were Indians.

∴ no of children were not Indians = (100 - 10)% of 800 %

= 90% of 800

= 90 × 800/100

= 720

∴ total number of people who were not Indians = 560 + 300 + 720 = 1580

total number of people in Conference = 700 + 500 + 800 = 2000

∴ percentage of people who were not Indians = 1580/2000 × 100

= 1580/20

= 79 % in fraction = 79/100 = 0.79

Therefore the percentage of people who were not Indians, is 0.79. hence option (C) is correct.

Answer:

total no. of not Indians = 80% 0f 700= 80×700/100= 560

=60% of 500= 60×500/100=300

90% of 800= 90×800/100=720

total 1580

Total no of Indians =700+500+800=2000

therefore, percentage of not Indians =1580/2000×100

79%.
